DreamWorks Records will release the Broadway cast recording of Paul Simon's musical, The Capeman. According to Roy Hamm, publicist for DreamWorks Records, the cast album will be recorded in early 1998, with a release tentatively set for late spring. Hamm was unable to confirm whether or not the recording would preserve the entire Paul Simon/Derek Walcott through-sung score, which in its first preview performance Dec. 1, ran 2 hours and 50 minutes (including intermission.)

Simon's musical about Salvador Agron, whose conviction for the murder of two teens in 1959 became a cause celebre, continues in previews at the Marquis Theatre and opens Jan. 8.

Warner Bros. Records released a concept recording of the musical Nov. 18; titled "Songs from The Capeman," the album contains 13 tracks from the score and features performances by Simon and Broadwday cast memebers Marc Anthony, Ruben Blades, and Ednita Nazario.
