Originally scheduled to open Sept. 28, the Michael Weller play — which includes a fair amount of physical action — will now open to critics Oct. 1 at 7 PM. Although a preview performance on Sept. 24 was canceled, there will be a performance Sept. 25. In a joint statement, MCC artistic directors Robert LuPone and Bernard Telsey said, "In order to give our cast time to heal properly, and to give the critics an opportunity to reschedule their tickets and file their reviews, we felt it best to cancel two press performances and delay the opening night."

Austin Pendleton directs Fifty Words, which began previews at the Lucille Lortel Theatre Sept. 10. Performances will continue through Oct. 25.

In Fifty Words, press notes state, "something's gone awry behind the idyllic façade of Jan and Adam's Brooklyn brownstone. At 9:10 p.m., they're reveling in the freedom of having waved off their young son, Greg, to a neighborhood sleepover. By 9:30 p.m., things have gone, well…way past awry."

The Lucille Lortel Theatre is located in Manhattan at 121 Christopher Street. For more information visit www.mcctheater.org.
