News DuSold, Hu, LaFosse, Winther and More Set for Fisher King Musical Reading A by-invitation-only reading of the new musical The Fisher King — based on the 1991 film of the same name — will be held in Manhattan Sept. 22 at New York Theatre Workshop.

Paul Dobie directs the reading, which features the talents of Jill Abramowitz, Katie Adams, Kevin Carolan, Robert DuSold, Tara Giordano, Mary Ann Hu, Meredith Inglesby, Robert LaFosse, Alexander Quiroga, Amanda Rose, Joey Sorge, Richard Waits, Michael Winther and Peter Zielinski. The Fisher King was penned by Michael Brennan (music) and Mark Leydorf (book and lyrics). The musical, according to press notes, concerns "a dejected media personality who strikes up a friendship with an ex-professor who has become a tramp because of his wife's violent death. The two form an unlikely bond while both try to put back the pieces to their shattered lives."

Brian Nitzkin is producing the reading.

"The Fisher King" was directed by Terry Gilliam and featured a screenplay by Richard LaGravenese. The film's cast included Jeff Bridges, Robin Williams and Mercedes Ruehl, who won the Academy Award for her role as Anne.

NYTW is located in Manhattan at 79 East 4th Street, between Bowery and Second Avenue.
