Lisette Merenciana, Dutch dramatist/film maker, opens her latest Solid Peach at La MaMa ETC in New York City, Mar. 26-April 5. Solid Peach employs slide projections, a mirrored floor and a live soundscape to invoke the surreal trappings of a ladies' restroom where four men experience an emotional epiphany.
In 1997, Merenciana's first American theatre-piece, Die Egg Noise, was shown at downtown's Anthology Film Archives, which will also be screening her short film Sleeping Figures, April 24-26.
For Peach, Merenciana has employed an international cast including: Giovanny Cortes (Colombia), David Velez Felix (Puerto Rico), Jeroun Kuiper (Holland), John Stanley Long (USA), and Sofia Marija Kulikauskas (Lithuania). Lithuanian Julius Ludavicius is designing the lights and set.
Solid Peach runs at La MaMa, Mar. 26-April 5, for reservations call (212) 475-7710.
