Dykstra's The Jesus Factor Will Play Open-Ended Run

News   Dykstra's The Jesus Factor Will Play Open-Ended Run

Brian Dykstra's The Jesus Factor, once a limited engagement, will now play an open-ended run in Manhattan beginning in February.

The latest uncensored solo work from the actor and solo-artist began a limited run Jan. 10 as part of the Barrow Street Fortnight. Fresh Ice Productions and Jack W. Batman have announced that The Jesus Factor will return to the Barrow Street Theatre for an open-ended run beginning Feb. 2, with an official opening scheduled for Feb. 7.

Known for his self-described "ferocious, stinging rebukes of those who hold this nation hostage with their constant drumbeat of fear," Dykstra's cutting and candid works have found the artist labeled as an "enemy" by conservative talking head Rush Limbaugh and also landed him on several conservative watch lists, including the NRA.

Margarett Perry, who previously directed Dykstra's Cornered & Alone and Clean Alternatives Off-Broadway, directs The Jesus Factor, described as an "uncensored and outrageously funny one-man tour-de-force about religious hypocrisy and power."

As an actor, Dykstra has appeared in Rounding Third at Hartford's TheaterWorks, in Brian Park's Americana Absurdum in London and Off-Broadway in Breaking Legs, Incommunicado and Tatjana in Color. His comedy has been seen on HBO's "Def Poetry Jam" and "Chappelle's Show." His play Clean Alternatives won the Edinburgh Festival Fringe First award in 2006.

The Jesus Factor, which was filmed during a previous engagement at Comix in New York City, will be officially released on Feb. 12 in retail stores by Uproar Entertainment. It is currently available by visiting www.uproarcomedycd.com. Tickets, priced $25, are available by visiting www.telecharge.com or by calling (212) 239-6200. The Barrow Street Theatre is located at 27 Barrow Street in Greenwich Village.
