Rinde Eckert, celebrated for his last play, And God Created Great Whales, returned to New York City's The Culture Project at 45 Bleecker with his new work, An Idiot Divine. The production that opened Jan. 16 and will conclude its scheduled run Feb. 18.

Eckert's And God Created Great Whales enjoyed its second NYC run last season at The Culture Project to much acclaim. His new work combines two other earlier works, Dry Land Divine and The Idiot Variations. In Idiot Divine, we meet two eccentric characters (a murderer and an idiot) set on making sense of the world. The one-man show will feature Eckert playing his original compositions on a number of instruments.

Ellen McLaughlin (actress of Angels in America and Eckert's real-life wife) directs the author in this production. The play also features scenic and lighting design by Giselda Beaudin and projections by David Crowland and Sheila Metzner.

Tickets to Idiot Divine can be purchased to The Culture Project, at 45 Bleecker Street, by calling TicketMaster at (212) 307-1400.
