Lupita Nyong’o, a Tony nominee for her performance in the Tony-nominated drama Eclipsed, is currently in negotiations for a starring role in the forthcoming film Black Panther, according to EW.com.
The Oscar winner, whose role has not been revealed, would star opposite Chadwick Boseman. Ryan Coogler will direct from his own screenplay; the film is scheduled to arrive in cinemas February 16, 2018.
Black Panther, the industry website reports, “follows T’Challa, king of the fictional African nation Wakanda.”
Nyong'o won a Best Supporting Actress Academy Award for her performance in 12 Years a Slave.
