The Stella Adler Studio of Acting was founded by actress and teacher Stella Adler in 1949. A nonprofit organization that trains more than 500 actors a year, the school's alumni include Marlon Brando, Robert DeNiro and Stritch, whose documentary "Elaine Stritch: Shoot Me" recently screened at the Tribeca Film Festival.
The Stella Adler Outreach Division provides annual free theatre programs to hundreds of young people who live below the poverty line and has reached nearly 5,000 youth since 2004. The Studio also presents public lectures, poetry readings, concerts, theatre performances, dance theatre events and an annual arts festival. More information can be found at stellaadler.com.
