Stritch makes a guest appearance as Colleen, the jaded mother of Jack, portrayed by Alec Baldwin. The Tony and Emmy-winning actress is set to spar with her on-screen son as well as Broadway veteran Anita Gillette, who guest stars as the mother of "30 Rock" writer and star Tina Fey. Also featured on the episode is a reference to the hit musical Jersey Boys, which Liz (Tina Fey) treats her parents to during their stay in New York.
It was originally reported that Xanadu would be Liz's Broadway show of choice, but that reference was changed.
The popular half-hour NBC series that centers around the making of a weekly live sketch show titled "The Girlie Show," also stars Tony Award winner Jane Krakowski, as well as Tracy Morgan, Scott Adsit, Keith Powell, Judah Friedlander, Katrina Bowden, Jack McBrayer and Lonny Ross.
Other stage alum to have appeared on the show include Nathan Lane, Brian Murray, Whoopi Goldberg, Peter Hermann, Stephanie March, Rip Torn, Wayne Brady, Isabella Rosselini and Anna Chlumsky.
This January, Elaine Stritch will revive her Tony and Emmy Award-winning one-woman show Elaine Stritch: At Liberty at the Café Carlyle from Jan. 1-19, 2008. "30 Rock" airs Thursday evenings at 9 PM ET on NBC. Check local listings.
