News Elaine Stritch to Receive Town Hall Friend of the Arts Award Tony and Emmy winner Elaine Stritch, currently back on Broadway in the Tony-nominated revival of A Little Night Music, will be honored Oct. 17.

Both Stritch and Merryl H. Tisch, chancellor of the New York State Board of Regents, will be presented with The Town Hall "Friend of the Arts" Award at the landmark venue's 89th anniversary gala at the Princeton Club of New York.

The award is presented annually to "individuals in recognition and appreciation for their abiding interest in the development, enrichment and support of the arts," according to press notes.

The gala will begin at 5:45 PM.

Previous recipients of the award, which was established in 1981, include Jacques d’Amboise, Beverly Sills, Tony Bennett, Dizzy Gillespie, Helen Hayes, Kitty Carlisle Hart, Andrea Marcovicci, Jane Alexander, Eli Wallach, Sheldon Harnick, Wendy Wasserstein, Theodore Bikel, Betty Comden & Adolph Green, Marilyn Horne and Gerald Schoenfeld.

Tickets are $500 each and include a ticket to the Broadway Cabaret Festival's Broadway Originals concert that same day at 3 PM at Town Hall.
