The original Broadway cast album of Elf, the musical comedy based on the 2003 Warner Brothers film of the same title, will be released Nov. 1 on Ghostlight Records.

Elf, which played a Broadway run during the 2010 holiday seasonhas a score by Wedding Singer songwriters Matthew Sklar (music) and Chad Beguelin (lyrics) and a book by Tony Award winners Bob Martin (The Drowsy Chaperone) and Thomas Meehan (Annie, Hairspray, The Producers).

Ghostlight will release Elf, featuring the entire original Broadway cast, digitally and in stores on Nov. 1. The packaging includes full lyrics and liner notes by Tony-winning Fiddler on the Roof and She Loves Me lyricist Sheldon Harnick. David Lai and Sklar produced the album, which was mixed by Isaiah Abolin.

The original Broadway company reunited in during the winter and spring of 2011 to record the cast album.

Sebastian Arcelus (Jersey Boys, Wicked) starred as Buddy the elf, in a cast that also featured Amy Spanger (Rock of Ages, The Wedding Singer) as Buddy's love interest Jovie, Tony winner Beth Leavel (The Drowsy Chaperone, Mamma Mia!) as Emily, Mark Jacoby (Sweeney Todd, Show Boat) as Walter and Emmy winner George Wendt ("Cheers," Hairspray) as Santa.

The principal cast also included Matthew Gumley (Addams Family) as Michael, Valerie Wright (Steel Pier) as Deb, Michael McCormick (Curtains) as Mr. Greenway and Michael Mandell (Big River) as the Store Manager.

The Elf ensemble included Timothy J. Alex, Callie Carter, Cara Cooper, Lisa Gadja, Asmeret Ghebremichael, Blake Hammond, Emily Hsu, Jenny Hill, Nancy Johnston, Marc Kessler, Matt Loehr, Lee Wilkins, Kirsten Wyatt, Noah Weisberg, Stacey Todd Holt and Michael James Scott.

Book of Mormon Tony Award winner Casey Nicholaw directed and choreographed the musical that began previews Nov. 2, 2010, and officially opened Nov. 14. It ended its run Jan. 2, 2011.

The musical comedy broke records at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre box office three times over the course of its 58-performance run. Elf grossed $1,572,835.50 million during Christmas week.

The musical and its source center on a human orphan, who steals away in Santa's sack one Christmas Eve and is raised as an elf in the North Pole. He soon learns the truth of his heritage when he outgrows his fellow toy makers. Will Ferrell originated the role on screen.
