News   Elf The Musical Will Play Mini-Holiday Tour Beginning in November
Elf The Musical, which played Broadway engagements in 2010 and 2012, will spread Christmas cheer during a limited holiday tour, according to an Equity casting notice.

Based on the 2003 film of the same title, Elf has a score by Wedding Singer songwriters Matthew Sklar (music) and Chad Beguelin (lyrics) and a book by Tony Award winners Bob Martin (The Drowsy Chaperone) and Thomas Meehan (Annie, Hairspray, The Producers).

The upcoming tour, which will be directed by Sam Scalamoni with choreography by Connor Gallagher, will open in November and continue through Jan. 5, 2014. Cities and venues have yet to be announced.

NETwork Presentations is producing the tour.

A Ghostlight Records cast album preserves the original Broadway cast.

The musical and its source center on a human orphan, who steals away in Santa's sack one Christmas Eve and is raised as an elf in the North Pole. He soon learns the truth of his heritage when he outgrows his fellow toy makers. Will Ferrell originated the role on screen.
