The Drama League Awards are unusual in that they combine Broadway and Off-Broadway productions in the same categories, and allow more nominations in each category than most awards.
The Awards eligibility period for Broadway and Off-Broadway productions will end April 17, 2016, followed by the Nominations Announcement the morning of April 19 in the following categories: Outstanding Play, Outstanding Revival of a Play, Outstanding Musical, Outstanding Revival of a Musical and the Distinguished Performance Award.
First awarded in 1922, The Drama League Awards are the oldest theatrical honors in America. They are also the only major theatregoer awards chosen by both industry professionals and audience members together.
To celebrate its 100 years of service to the American theatre, The Drama League previously announced the date for The Drama League Centennial Gala: Nov. 2 at The Plaza (768 Fifth Avenue). Cocktails and silent auction will begin at 7 PM followed by dinner and performance at 8 PM.
