As previously reported, Fiennes will play Prospero in the production that will begin performances Aug. 27 and officially open Sept. 6. The Tempest will run through Oct. 29.
According to the Daily Mail, Hopper, who appears in a non-speaking role in Nunn's current production of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead, will play Miranda, the daughter to Fiennes' Prospero.
"Marooned and left to die on a remote island, Prospero can command spirits, create apparitions and manipulate the elements. By using his magic, he assembles his enemies to take revenge on them, and in the process awakens in Miranda, his teenage daughter, her first experience of love. The theme of reconciliation gives immense emotional force to Shakespeare’s farewell to the stage," according to TRH.
It has also been reported that James Goldman's The Lion in Winter, to star Joanna Lumley and Robert Lindsay, will follow The Tempest into the Theatre Royal Haymarket. Nunn will also direct.
