Elizabeth Franz, who is nominated for a Tony Award as Best Featured Actress in a Play for Morning's at Seven, had no knowledge of the Paul Obsorne comedy before being cast in the Lincoln Center revival. "[Director] Dan Sullivan sent the play to [Lincoln Center Theater artistic director] Andre Bishop, saying it was his favorite play," said Franz. " Andre said I'd love [me] to play Aaronetta and they could build around that. I had never read it or seen it. So I read it and said, this is a very important play for now because of families. The American family is just falling to pieces right now.
"You can't see this play too much, I think," she continued. "It should really go down with Our Town as a real American classic."
Franz should know. She won her first Tony Award for playing Linda Loman in another certified American classic, Death of a Salesman.
