News Ellen DeGeneres Teaches World How to Pronounce Saoirse Ronan's Name Golden Globe nominee Saoirse Ronan, who will soon be making her Broadway debut in The Crucible, appeared on "The Ellen Degeneres Show" Jan. 6. The stage and screen star explained how to accurately pronounce her name, which is of Irish origin.

According to an Instagram post by the program, the actress wore a sign stating: "Hello, my name is Sur-Sha." "She rhymes with inertia," stated the caption. See the photo below:

Ronan was nominated for a Golden Globe and Academy Award at 14 years old for her performance in "Atonement" alongside Keira Knightley. Ahead of appearing on Broadway next month, she was recently nominated for another Golden Globe, this time for her starring role in the film "Brooklyn."
