News Elton John to Host April 2 "Saturday Night Live" Tony and Grammy Award winner Elton John will host the April 2 episode of "Saturday Night Live," according to the Toronto Sun.

John will also perform on the episode with Leon Russell, with whom he collaborated on the album "The Union." He last hosted the popular NBC sketch comedy series in 1982.

A Tony Award winner for his score for Aida, John has also written the scores to the Broadway musicals Billy Elliot and The Lion King and produced the Broadway play Next Fall. Best known as a singer-songwriter, his hits range from "Candle in the Wind" to "Tiny Dancer," "Crocodile Rock" and "Goodbye, Yellow Brick Road," among many others.

"Saturday Night Live" airs Saturdays at 11:30 PM ET on NBC.
