Classic Arts News Emerson String Quartet Appears Live at Apple Store Soho Tonight The Emerson String Quartet makes a special appearance tonight at 7 p.m. at the Apple Store Soho in lower Manhattan. The free event will feature a combination of performance and conversation, with the four musicians leading the audience through a brief history of the string quartet.
An MP3 download of a similar program, titled "The String Quartet Revealed," is now available exclusively at iTunes; each of the three volumes covers a period in the medium's history: Classical, Romantic and Modern.

In addition, Deutsche Grammophon has now made the entire Emerson catalogue available on iTunes. This includes the ensemble's most recent release, its first-ever recording of the complete Brahms quartets, as well as the Piano Quintet with Leon Fleisher.

This is a milestone year for the Emerson Quartet: the foursome is celebrating 30 years together and 20 years of recording for DG. The group is currently in the midst of its Perspectives series of concerts at Carnegie Hall, focusing on the Beethoven quartets.

"The Emerson String Quartet — Live at the Apple Store" begins at 7 p.m. on Monday, Jue 4, 2007 at the Apple Store Soho, 103 Prince Street in Manhattan. (The location is at the corner of Prince and Greene Streets, one block south of W. Houston St. and two blocks west of Broadway. Subway: N, W or R train to Prince St.) The event is free and open to the public, though seating is limited.
