An MP3 download of a similar program, titled "The String Quartet Revealed," is now available exclusively at iTunes; each of the three volumes covers a period in the medium's history: Classical, Romantic and Modern.
In addition, Deutsche Grammophon has now made the entire Emerson catalogue available on iTunes. This includes the ensemble's most recent release, its first-ever recording of the complete Brahms quartets, as well as the Piano Quintet with Leon Fleisher.
This is a milestone year for the Emerson Quartet: the foursome is celebrating 30 years together and 20 years of recording for DG. The group is currently in the midst of its Perspectives series of concerts at Carnegie Hall, focusing on the Beethoven quartets.
