News Emily Watson to Star at London's Donmar Warehouse

Emily Watson, who recently portrayed a feisty maid in the feature film"Gosford Park," is set to play another period role, onstage, for Sam Mendes at the Donmar Warehouse.

Mendes has cast the actress in his final season at the Donmar, which also includes Gwyneth Paltrow in Proof. Watson will co-star with Simon Russell Beale in Twelfth Night and Uncle Vanya.

Watson, who spent two years at the British Shakespeare School of Acting, has amassed several film credits in the past decade. Her other feature films include "Breaking the Waves," "Hilary and Jackie" and "Angela's Ashes." She received Oscar nominations for her work in both "Breaking the Waves" and "Hilary and Jackie."

Mendes made a habit of casting film stars during his decade at the helm of the Donmar, including Nicole Kidman's West End debut in David Hare's The Blue Room, which later transferred to Broadway.
