News Emmy Winner Laura Linney to Star in New Showtime Series Emmy and Golden Globe Award winner Laura Linney, who will return to Broadway later this season in Manhattan Theatre Club's upcoming New York premiere of Time Stands Still, will star in a new series for the Showtime cable network.

Entertainment Weekly reports that Linney will also executive produce "The C Word," the show's current working title.

The series, according to EW, "follows a woman struggling with cancer while balancing a husband and family in the suburbs." A pilot will be shot in the fall.

Onstage Linney has appeared in Les Liaisons Dangereuses, Sight Unseen, The Crucible, Uncle Vanya, Honour, Holiday, Hedda Gabler, The Seagull, Six Degrees of Separation, Beggars in the House of Plenty and Fortinbras. Among her extensive screen appearances are "John Adams," "Kinsey," "Love Actually," "Tales of the City," "Lorenzo's Oil," "Congo" and "The Savages."

Linney earned Tony nominations for her work in The Crucible and Sight Unseen.
