All 45 of Fela's albums, comprising the entirety of the late musician's catalogue, are set to roll out throughout the coming year in remastered form. They will also be available in digital format for download. The first six remastered CDs (which feature nine of Kuti's earliest albums) will be released Feb. 16, according to Variety. The second set of albums will drop later this spring.
Knitting Factory will release the albums in various packages, including DVDs and special collector's editions. A vinyl box set is also being prepared.
Tony Award winner Bill T. Jones co-conceived the musical Fela!, which he also directed and choreographed. The production stars Sahr Ngaujah and Kevin Mambo, who alternate in the title role.
