Choreographer Ephrat “Bounce” Asherie has been awarded the 2019 summer residency from Dance Lab New York and the Rockefeller Brothers Fund.

The residency provides the choreographer a stipend, 12 paid professional dancers, 40 hours of incubation, a studio supervisor, insurances, space at The Pocantico Center in New York, administrative support, and more in support of Asherie’s developmental work. The residency will take place June 3–July 18.

Dance Lab New York artistic director Josh Prince, as well as choreographers William Carlos Angulo and Maria Torres will join Asherie for the lab.

“Finding the space, time and resources to create in one of the busiest cities in the world is an immense challenge, but this partnership eases all that stress,” Asherie said in a statement. “Rehearsing with incredible dancers, both here in NYC and upstate in Pocantico, will allow me to hone my craft, focus on the creative process and experiment with new ideas and concepts...what an invaluable gift!”

DLNY is the only independent organization dedicated to the future of choreography through the development of diverse talent via funds and resources. DNLY has previously assisted choreographers like Tony winner Andy Blankenbuehler (Bandstand, Hamilton), Tony nominee Camille A. Brown (Choir Boy), Ray Mercer (The Lion King), and more.
