Directed by Stephen Brackett and choreographed by Sam Pinkleton, previews will begin July 21 prior to an official opening July 24 at Off-Broadway's Lucille Lortel Theatre. Performances will continue through Aug. 22.

The cast will include Eric Meyers as Percy Jackson, Jordan Stanley as Grover, Graham Stevens as Chiron, Kristin Stokes as Annabeth and Zakiya Young as Sally/Clarisse. Additional casting will be announced soon.

Adapted from the book of the same name by Rick Riordan, the musical features a book by Joe Tracz with music, lyrics and orchestrations by Rob Rokicki. The Lightning Thief, press notes state, "is the story of Percy, a 12-year-old boy who journeys into a world of mythological monsters and Greek Gods as he struggles with dyslexia and ADHD — as well as coming to terms with a father he has never known — while solving the mystery of Zeus' stolen lightning bolt."

The production will also have scenic design by Lee Savage, costume design by Sydney Maresca, lighting design by Drama Desk Award winner David Lander and sound design by Carl Casella. Rokicki also serves as music director. The production stage manager is Eileen Lalley.

Launched in 1989, the mission of Theatreworks USA's Free Summer Theatre Program is to "provide New York City youth with their own theatre tradition that not only entertains, but also educates and fosters positive values and an appreciation for theatre." "Grey's Anatomy" star Kevin McKidd serves as the Honorary Chair for this year's Free Summer Theatre Program.

The Lightning Thief is a 60-minute, one-act musical recommended for children ages eight and up. Show times are Monday-Friday at 10:30 AM and 1 PM, Thursday at 6 PM and Sunday at 2 PM and 4:30 PM.

Tickets are free and are available on a first-come, first-served basis in person at the Lucille Lortel Theatre Box Office (121 Christopher Street) on the day of the performance. Tickets for each day's performances will be distributed beginning one hour prior to the first performance of the day. There is a limit of four tickets per adult per day.
