News Esbjornson to Stage Kling's How? How? Why? Why? Why? in Cincinnati NPR humorist Kevin Kling will bring his solo show How? How? Why? Why? Why? to the Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park beginning Feb. 13.

David Esbjornson directs and designs sets for the engagement that will run through March 14 in the Shelterhouse Theatre. Kling will be accompanied by Simone Perrin on the accordion.

The title comes from Kling's voice-activated dictation software on his computer which translated a fight between his dog and cat ("meow meow bark bark bark") into "How how why why why."

Kling's play, according to press notes, explores "the difference between the trip you plan and the trip you take in life. He says trauma can’t be cured, but it can he healed – and Kling’s method of healing is laughter. In recounting the events following a debilitating motorcycle accident, Kling uses his great skill for storytelling to examine how tragedy can positively define a person’s life."

Kling's work has been presented on NPR's "All Things Considered." He is the author of the books "The Dog Says How" and "Kevin Kling’s Holiday Inn." Kling and Perrin premiered Breakin’ Hearts and Takin’ Name at the Seattle Repertory Theatre last spring.
