Hamlisch is the conductor and host of the 7:30 PM evening at Avery Fisher Hall entitled Broadway's Greatest Showstoppers. The performance also boasts the talents of Tony Award winner Kristin Chenoweth; 2008 Tony nominee Raúl Esparza; bass-baritone Michel Bell, nominated for his work in the most recent Broadway revival of Show Boat; and longtime Les Misérables singer-actor J. Mark McVey.

The evening will include such theatre tunes as "There's No Business Like Show Business" from Annie Get Your Gun, "Ol' Man River" from Show Boat, "Bring Him Home" from Les Misérables, "Oh What a Circus" from Evita, "Soliloquy" from Carousel and "Being Alive" from Company as well as selections from A Chorus Line.

Music from A Chorus Line

Marvin Hamlisch won the 1976 Tony Award for Best Score of a Musical for his work on A Chorus Line (lyrics by Edward Kleban) and received a Tony nomination for his score for the short-lived musical Sweet Smell of Success. The composer also contributed songs (lyrics by Craig Carnelia) to the Broadway play-with-music Imaginary Friends, and his other Broadway credits include They're Playing Our Song, Smile and The Goodbye Girl. Hamlisch has scored more than 40 motion pictures, and his numerous pop hits include "The Way We Were" and "Nobody Does It Better."

Kristin Chenoweth, who received a Tony nomination for her work as Glinda in Stephen Schwartz's Wicked, has been seen on the New York stage in The Fantasticks, Scapin, Steel Pier, A New Brain, Epic Proportions, Strike Up the Band, On a Clear Day You Can See Forever, The Apple Tree, Stairway to Paradise and Candide. The actress won her Tony Award for her performance as Sally Brown in the Broadway bow of You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown. Chenoweth recently released her second solo recording, "As I Am" (Sony Classical), and her screen credits include "Kristin," "The West Wing," "The Music Man," "The Pink Panther," "Stranger Than Fiction," "Deck the Halls" and "Running with Scissors." Chenoweth can currently be seen on the new ABC series "Pushing Daisies." Raul Esparza, nominated for a 2008 Tony Award for his performance in the recent Broadway revival of The Homecoming, has also starred on Broadway in Company, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Taboo, Cabaret and The Rocky Horror Show. He won Drama Desk Awards for his performances in Taboo and Company and received Tony nominations for his work in those shows as well. Off-Broadway Esparza was seen in tick, tick . . . BOOM! and the revival of The Normal Heart. He also starred in two of the Stephen Sondheim musicals that comprised the Sondheim Celebration at the Kennedy Center, Sunday in the Park with George and Merrily We Roll Along.
