The West Coast Jewish Theatre will host their first annual tribute dinner to actress/comedienne Estelle Getty, benefitting the theatre, on Jan. 18 at Santa Monica, CA's DC3 Flight Room at the Museum of Flying.
Getty is best known for her TV role as Sophia, which she has played on "The Golden Girls," "Golden Palace" and "Empty Nest." She has won several awards, including the first Helen Hayes Award for Best Supporting Performer, for her portrayal of Mrs. Beckoff in Torch Song Trilogy, which she performed on Broadway before touring.
The dinner, entertainment, and tribute ceremony will be emceed by Monty Hall, and include celebrity guests such as Bea Arthur, Rue McClanahan, Lainie Kazan, and others.
Event keynote speaker will be Hal Kanter, writer and/or director of twenty feature films. A tribute journal will be published in conjunction with the event.
