Kevin Murphy and Dan Studney’s musical, based on the 1936 propaganda film, premiered in Los Angeles before a 2001 Off-Broadway bow. A 2005 screen adaptation followed with a cast including Kristen Bell, Christian Campbell (who serves as a producer for the reading), Alan Cumming, and Ana Gasteyer.

Joining Campbell on the producing team are David Carpenter, John Arthur Pinckard, and America Olivo. The reading will also feature musical direction by Matthew Aument and music supervision by Lance Horne. Casting is by Carrie Gardner.

Additional plan for the musical are expected to be announced later this year.
