News Evens, Cusick, Barbour, Figueroa, Bianco Cast in Weston Playhouse's Rent Leo Ash Evens, who played the Emcee in the recent Theatre Under the Stars production of Cabaret, has been cast as Mark Cohen in the Weston Playhouse's upcoming production of the Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winning musical Rent.

Directed and choreographed by Bill Castellino, the Jonathan Larson musical will play the Vermont venue July 30-Aug. 22. The cast also features Kristoffer Cusick as Roger Davis, Jordan Barbour as Tom Collins, Joshua Denning as Benjamin Coffin III, Jeremy Leiner as Angel Schunard, Stacey Sargeant as Joanne Jefferson, Rona Figueroa as Mimi Marquez and Christina Bianco as Maureen Johnson. The ensemble comprises C. Mingo Long, Craig Fogel, Norman Payne, Paul Rawlings, Katy Karr, Nadine Malouf and Jenny Powell. Charlie Parker is the "Seasons of Love" soloist.

"The modern-day musical that swept the nation tells the stories of a group of artists on the Lower East Side of Manhattan," according to the Weston Playhouse. "The make-shift family journeys through a year experiencing the joy of rebellion, the beauty of love and the heartbreak of death. From the first chord to the last refrain, audience members will be entranced and moved by the heroic characters and their daily struggles."

The Rent creative team also includes music director Greg Brown, scenic designer Timothy R. Mackabee, costume designer Kirche Leigh Zeile, lighting designer Jack Mehler, sound designer Kristyn R. Smith, production stage manager John Godbout and assistant stage manager Kate Baxter Davis.
