News Evita Sets Broadway Dates; Tickets on Sale Oct. 29 The revival of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's Evita will begin previews at the Marquis Theatre, current home of the acclaimed revival of Follies, March 12, 2012, with an official opening April 5.

Tickets will go on sale Oct. 29 at 10 AM ET via www.ticketmaster.com.

The Broadway production reunites Tony and Olivier-winning director Michael Grandage and Tony Award-winning choreographer Rob Ashford (Thoroughly Modern Millie, How to Succeed…), who staged the 2006 London revival of the musical about the life and death of Eva Peron. Hal Luftig and Scott Sanders produce the engagement.

The cast will be headed by Olivier winner Elena Roger, who starred in the 2006 London production. She will be joined on Broadway by Grammy winner Ricky Martin as Che and Tony Award winner Michael Cerveris (Tommy, Sweeney Todd) as Juan Peron. (As previously reported, Roger will play six performances a week due to the vocal demands of the Lloyd Webber-Rice score.)

The revival promises songs from the original staging, such as "Don’t Cry for Me Argentina," "Buenos Aires," "Rainbow High" and "High Flying Adored," as well as "You Must Love Me," which was penned for the 1996 film adaptation.

Evita has music by Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyrics by Tim Rice. Harold Prince staged the original London and New York productions. Elaine Paige earned an Olivier Award for creating the role in London. Patti LuPone, who starred in the 1979 Broadway staging, earned a Tony Award for her work alongside Tony winner Mandy Patinkin as Che. Evita also earned the 1980 Tony Awards for Best Musical, Best Score, Best Book and Best Direction. Roger won the 2009 Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actress in a Musical for her portrayal of Édith Piaf in Piaf.

Additional creative team members and casting will be announced at a later date. For more information visit www.EvitaOnBroadway.com.
