News Evita’s Kathryn Evans to Join Adam Cooper for London On Your Toes Kathryn Evans, who was the last actress to portray Eva Peron in the original West End production of Evita, will be part of the On Your Toes cast this summer at the Royal Festival Hall.

The official website for the famed Hall says that Evans will join Adam Cooper, Cooper’s wife Sarah Wildor and Irek Mukhamedov for the staging of the musical, which runs Aug. 7-Sept. 6. Directed by Paul Kerryson — who also helmed last summer’s production of Follies at the Royal Festival Hall — the creative team comprises Adam Cooper (choreography), Julian Kelly (musical director) and Paul Farnsworth (designer). Featuring music by Richard Rodgers and lyrics by Lorenz Hart, On Your Toes concerns former dancer Junior Dolan (Cooper), who persuades a Russian dance company to perform “Slaughter on 10th Avenue.” The classic score includes such tunes as “There’s a Small Hotel” and “Glad to Be Unhappy.” The most recent Broadway production (1983) starred Natalia Makarova, Christine Andreas, George de la Peña, George S. Irving, Dina Merrill and Lara Teeter. Makarova won a 1983 Tony Award for her performance.

Kathryn Evans has starred in the U.K. in productions of Anything Goes, Radio Times, Aspects of Love, Mack and Mabel, On the Twentieth Century, The Fix, Into the Woods, The Rink, Follies and A Little Night Music. Her television appearances include two Royal Variety programs, the Laurence Olivier Awards as well as a leading role in “Tiger Bastable.” Evans can be heard on the original London cast recordings of Anything Goes, Mack and Mabel, Radio Times, Success and The Fix.
