Almost Famous, the cult 2000 Cameron Crowe movie about a teen journalist covering a rock band for Rolling Stone magazine, is getting a concert salute June 12 at the historic Troubadour club in West Hollywood, CA.
Broadway's Corbin Bleu (In The Heights) and Emma Hunton (Wicked, Spring Awakening, Next to Normal) will topline the “live theatrical experience” being presented by glory|struck under the title Untitled and Unauthorized: ALMOST FAMOUS in Concert, with a set list of rock classics.
The event is described in production notes saying, “This music-driven love letter pays homage to the film set against the unforgettable music of the era, inspired by and satirizing the story of Stillwater, hard-working band making good, their devoted female fans, and the teenage journalist covering them on their Almost Famous tour from summer ‘73.”
The cast also features film and TV stars Garrett Clayton (Teen Beach Movie, The Fosters), Chrissie Fit (Teen Beach Movie, Pitch Perfect 2), Ashley Argota (The Fosters, True Jackson VP), Kelley Jakle (Pitch Perfect 1 & 2, Scorpion), Lindsay Pearce (Recovery Road, Glee), Abraham Lim (Grandfathered, The Glee Project), Shelley Regner (Pitch Perfect 1 & 2) and others.
Tickets go on sale April 27 at Troubadour.com and at Ticketfly.com/purchase/event/1159813.
