Expanded Arts' popular summer series "Shakespeare in the Park(ing) Lot" returns this year with productions of Othello and Henry V. The plays are free and will be performed in the open air of the municipal parking lot at Broome and Ludlow Streets on the Lower East Side of Manhattan.
Othello, directed by Frank Pisco, will run Wednesdays through Saturdays, July 8-Aug. 1, at 8 PM. Pisco has set the classic tale of jealousy in the world of professional American boxing, and is taking advantage of the parking lot environment to project a gritty, urban atmosphere. The cast features Russell Cappellino, Roderick Dudley, Chris Dylewski, Crystal Gandrud, Aisha Henderson, G.R. Johnson, Brandt Reiter, Noel Robichaux, Andrew Ruscio, Richard Swan and Nikki Walker.
Jerry McAllister, director of Henry V, playing Aug. 5-29, plans to give the audience a glimpse of the backstage life of the production's company as the play is being performed. The cast includes Jason Brown, Joe Corey, Kathleen Delaney, Crystal Gandrud, Jack Halpin, James Jackson Jr., Chris Knierim, David Lida, Kelly McAllister, Jack Nasi, Vinnie Penna, Chris Santangelo, Baz Snider, Rachel Solomon, Steven Williams, and Lee Winston.
