Rock of Ages cast member Mitchell Jarvis and pianist-musical adaptor Scott Bradlee are behind the pared-down presentation, which is based on Wildhorn and Bricusse's Tony-nominated gothic pop musical.

Adam Dannheiser (Rock of Ages, The Coast of Utopia, Proof) will direct the reading that will be presented at 8 PM at The Crypt, the underground chapel located within the Church of the Intercession on the border of Harlem and Washington Heights.

Jarvis said the goal was to offer a stripped-down version of the musical that will put the central focus on the role of Jekyll. The creative team is also working to create an unsettling experience for audiences by presenting the reading in an environmental staging with new orchestrations.

Wildhorn is not involved in the experimental reading, but the creative team is hopeful the work could have a future life.

Jarvis will take on the dual titular roles, in a cast that also features Lauren Molina (Sweeney Todd, Candide, Rock of Ages), Katie Webber (Catch Me If You Can, Rock of Ages), Tom Deckman (Spamalot), Geoff Packard (Candide), Daren DePaul (The Grinch), Tony LePage (Rock of Ages), Andy Miramontes and Paul Schoeffler (Rock of Ages, Sweet Charity).

One Man Musical, LLC, in association with Steve Litwitz and Jack Sharkey present the reading. To attend the reading e-mail [email protected].
