Fame - The Musical will be preserved on disc by DRG Records March 23. KOCH International will distribute the Hugh Fordin-produced cast recording in the US and Canada. Fame will be available only on CD.

Fame - The Musical will be preserved on disc by DRG Records March 23. KOCH International will distribute the Hugh Fordin-produced cast recording in the US and Canada. Fame will be available only on CD.

Conceived by David De Silva, Fame has music by Steve Margoshes, lyrics by Jacques Levy and a book by Jose Fernandez. The title song won a 1980 Academy Award in the popular movie, which spawned its own TV series and the current touring musical. Other songs on the upcoming cast album are "Bring on the Tomorrow," "I Want to Make Magic," "Hard Work," "Mabel's Prayer," "Think of Meryl Streep," "Dancin' on the Sidewalk," "These Are My Children," "In L.A." and "Let's Play a Love Scene."

Featured on the CD will be the original North American cast who opened the show in Toronto in Nov. 1998. That list includes Kim Crea (Miss Greta Bell), Dwayne Chattman (Tyrone Jackson), Dioni Michelle Collins (Mabel Washington), Gavin Creel (Nick Piazza), Robert Creighton (Goodman "Goody" King), Amy Ehrlich (Grace "Lambchops" Lamb), Jennifer Gambatese (Serena Katz), Nadine Isenegger (Iris Kelly), Regin Le Vert (Miss Ester Sherman), William Linton (Mr. Sheinkopf), Natasha Rennalls (Carmen Diaz), Jose Restrepo (Joe "Jose" Vegas), Richard G. Rodgers (Mr. Myers) and Carl Tramon (Schlomo Metzenbaum).

Fame has been traveling on a two year tour of the United States and Canada. Future stops include:
