Two Hands (Duas Maos) a comedy by Carol Machado and Ingrid Guimaraes, re-opened March 21 at The Paulo Autran Theatre in Sao Paulo. Demetrio Nicolau directs.

The comedy, which ran in Rio de Janeiro throughout 1997, stars the young actresses and TV personalities Carol Machado and Ingrid Guimaraes performing two elderly women who oppose each other in behaviour and ideas.

This production marked a return to the stage of the writers and actresses who had a blockbuster hit with Teenager Confessions (Confissoes de Adolescente). This time around they explore adult themes; loneliness, conflict of generations, aging and death.

Although it deals with these serious subjects, Two Hands is far from being a serious drama..."We hope that everyone leaves the theatre and goes straight to their grandmma´s house"... "[The play makes one] miss her a lot!" says Demetrio Nicolau, who directs the comedy for the second time.

The Production has songs by Andre Abujamra, Orlando Morais and Chico Cezar. Performances are from Thursdays to Saturdays - 9PM and Sundays - 7PM. Tickets cost R$20,00 and R$25,00. Call 011 523 0099 - Paulo Autran Theatre in Sao Paulo for more information. --By Nertutila Achao
