News Ferguson to Kick Off "Broadway Spotlight" Season with Songs by Finn and LaChiusa Jesse Tyler Ferguson, who will star in the upcoming William Finn musical The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, will kick off the third season of the acclaimed "Broadway Spotlight" series in Manhattan.

Ferguson will take centerstage at the Ars Nova Theater Oct. 4. The young actor, who will play Leaf Coneybear in the upcoming Finn musical, will offer tunes by Finn and Michael John LaChiusa, including songs from Spelling Bee and LaChiusa's R Shomon. Show time is 8 PM. Jesse Tyler Ferguson appeared on Broadway in the Public Theater's revival of On the Town. His other theatrical credits include Where Do We Live, The Most Fabulous Story Ever Told, Little Fish, The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged) and newyorkers as well as the City Center Encores! production of Hair. Ferguson's screen credits include "Absolutely Fabulous," "Sally Hemings: An American Scandal," "Ordinary Sinner" and "Mercury in Retrograde."

The "Broadway Spotlight" series presents concert evenings with stars of the musical theatre. Previous concerts have spotlighted the talents of Avenue Q's Ann Harada and John Tartaglia, Dance of the Vampires' Max von Essen, Les Miz’s Lauren Kennedy, Hairspray's Shoshana Bean, Into the Woods' Chad Kimball, Aida's Felicia Finley, Rent's Anthony Rapp, Wicked's Idina Menzel and Funny Girl’s Leslie Kritzer.
