Shores will direct, and Leslie Jordan and Delta Burke will star, along with Beth Grant, Rosemary Alexander, Scott Presley, Rich Deli, Dale Dickey and Newell Alexander. All have appeared in the play. Southern Baptist Sissies is about four gay men who grew up in the Baptist Church. The play premiered in 2000 at the Zephyr Theatre in Los Angeles.

Filming is expected to begin in the spring. Del Shores Productions is partnering with Funny Boy Films on the project. Shores will produce with Kirkland Tibbels of Funny Boy and Jason Dottley of Del Shores Prods.

Southern Baptist Sissies will be the third play by Shores to be turned into a film, after Sordid Lives and Daddy's Dyin'....Who's Got the Will?

Burke — known to television audiences for her turn in "Designing Woman" — has recently appeared on Broadway in Steel Magnolias and Thoroughly Modern Millie.

Jordan is perhaps best known for playing the recurring role of Beverley Leslie in the series "Will & Grace," for which he won an Emmy Award. He has also had recurring roles on "Ally McBeal," "Boston Public" and "Reba."
