In the wake of the $2.5 million-plus sale of movie rights to the Broadway musical Rent comes word that film producers are looking at the 1995-96 season's other hit musical, Bring in 'Da Noise, Bring in 'Da Funk.

In the wake of the $2.5 million-plus sale of movie rights to the Broadway musical Rent comes word that film producers are looking at the 1995-96 season's other hit musical, Bring in 'Da Noise, Bring in 'Da Funk.

Production spokesman Bill Coyle confirmed a report in Variety that "several studios" are interested in filming the rap/tap/blues history of African-Americans conceived by George C. Wolfe and Savion Glover.

Coyle said "There has been interest in turning it into a film but nothing is set in stone."

He did not say which producers were considering the project.
