The film version of Stephen Belber's Match, based on his 2004 Tony-nominated play of the same name, will hit theatres Jan. 14. Patrick Stewart, Carla Gugino and Matthew Lillard star.

The film, also directed by the playwright-screenwriter, will screen at the IFC Center (323 Avenue of the Americas, at Third Street, Greenwich Village).

"Match," according to production notes, "centers on a reclusive, eccentric Julliard dance instructor and avformer choreographer, Tobi (Stewart), who is visited by a Seattle couple, Lisa and Mike (Gugino and Lillard) under the pretense of interviewing Tobi for Lisa's thesis on the New York dance movement in the sixties. However, as the couple's true intentions are revealed, Tobi is forced to face the impact of decisions he made long ago."

The film is produced by David Permut, Rick Rosenthal and Matt Ratner; executive-produced by David Beitchman, Adam Brawer, Chris Mangano, Nick Morton and Larry Kopeikin; and co-produced by Steve Longi, Katie Mustard and Terry Leonard.

"Match" marks the debut feature film for Tilted Windmill Productions, founded by Matt Ratner in 2011. It is a co-production between Permut Presentations, Tilted Windmill Productions, Sentinel Pictures and Whitewater Films and is represented domestically by ICM Partners, which also represents Belber.

The Broadway production featured Frank Langella, Ray Liotta and Jane Adams.
