News Final Extra Week Added to Toronto Dirty Dancing; Must Close April 5 The Toronto engagement of Dirty Dancing, The Classic Story on Stage by Eleanor Bergstein was to have completed its Toronto engagement on March 29, but producers "have scrambled to keep the show on stage for one more week to fulfill the demand."

After playing 74 weeks at the historic Royal Alexandra Theatre, Dirty Dancing will now close on April 5, 2009.

"Dirty Dancing has been an enormous success for us," said producer David Mirvish, in a statement. "After canvassing the actors, musicians and stage crew to see if we could add more performances to the run, we are happy to report that we can get one more week."

The dance-heavy stage show borrows the hit movie's plot and soundtrack and adds more story and more songs, acted and sung live.

A U.S. tour opened in Boston recently and will continue on to Los Angeles later in 2009. The London production continues. It's also playing in Holland, and another production will open in Berlin this April.
