News Finkel and Barry to Be Honored by Folksbiene Oct. 30 The Folksbiene Yiddish Theatre will pay tribute to swing era recording star Claire Barry of The Barry Sisters and actor Fyvush Finkel at a gala supper club cabaret on Oct. 30 at 7 PM.

The dinner-dance and show will take place at NYU's Kimmel Center's Rosenthal Pavilion, at 60 Washington Square South. The show will feature performances by both the honorees and will benefit Folksbiene, the country's sole surviving professional Yiddish theatre.

The evening will also mark the installment of Jeffrey S. Wiesenfeld as Folksbiene's chairman of the board. Wiesenfeld is a former aide to New York Governor George Pataki. At the time of his appointment in August, Folksbiene was awarded $1.5 million in capital funds from the City of New York to help establish a new permanent home.

Claire and Myrna Barry, orginally The Beigelman Sisters before changing the name to The Barry Sisters, were celebrated Yiddish recording stars in the '30s and '40s.

Fyvush Finkel began his acting career over 50 years ago in the Yiddish theatre in New York. He starred in the Off-Broadway hit Little Shop of Horrors for five years, and in two musical revues, Finkel's Follies and From Second Avenue to Broadway. Television audiences know him from the series "Picket Fences."

Tickets are $180 per person. For more information, call (212) 213-2120.
