The Finnish National Opera House in Helsinki will be renovated in 2007, Helsingin Sanomat reports. The work will take about six months, necessitating the shortening of the fall and spring seasons.

The renovation will include the updating of the opera house's technical equipment, making it easier to import productions from other companies. The computers in the venue date from 1993, when it opened.

Costs are estimated in the millions of euros, but general director Erkki Korhonen said that a more precise reckoning won't be available until detailed plans are complete.
