The first scheduled preview performance for the new London production of Hamlet at the Almeida February 17 has been canceled, with performances now set to begin February 18. Opening night was previously scheduled for February 28.

The production, which runs through April 8 and is directed by Robert Icke, stars Andrew Scott in the title role.

According to a spokesperson for the theatre, the cancellation was necessary "to allow for the production to complete its technical rehearsal and be fully ready for its first audiences."

As announced earlier this week, those audiences are set to include performances for which tickets will be completely free to audience members aged 25 and under.
