Dolly Parton's 9 to 5 The Musical, based on the 1980 film, began performances at London's Savoy Theatre on January 28. The production, directed by Jeff Calhoun and featuring a score by Parton (who starred in the original movie and wrote the title song), is set to continue its run through August 31.
The musical tells the story of three workmates pushed to the breaking point by their sexist and egotistical boss. Concocting a plan to kidnap and turn the tables on their despicable supervisor, the women fight to reform their office. The London production stars Caroline Sheen, Natalie McQueen, and Amber Davies, with Brian Conley and Bonnie Langford rounding out the cast as the crass and amoral Franklin Hart and the enamored secretary Roz Keith, respectively.
