Kenneth Lonergan's Pulitzer Prize-nominated play The Waverly Gallery opened October 25 at the John Golden Theatre. Directed by Drama Desk and Obie Award winner Lila Neugebauer in her Broadway debut, the production features Grammy Award winner and Academy and Golden Globe Award nominee, Elaine May, Academy Award nominee Lucas Hedges, Tony Award winners Joan Allen and David Cromer, and, in his third Lonergan play, Michael Cera.

The Waverly Gallery follows the final years of a kindhearted, loquacious grandmother (May), battling the final stages of Alzheimer's disease. She has lived a rich life, including displays of social activism and ownership of a small art gallery in Greenwich Village; the play examines her struggle to maintain her independence, and the subsequent effect of her decline on her family, especially her grandson (Hedges).

The Waverly Gallery originally premiered at the Williamstown Theatre Festival in August 1999, before opening Off-Broadway at the Promenade Theater in March 2000.

The creative team includes David Zinn (set design), Ann Roth (costume design), Brian MacDevitt (lighting design), and is produced by Scott Rudin.
