A new staging of Luigi Cherubini’s opera Médée, starring Sonya Yoncheva, opens at the Berlin State Opera October 7. The production, directed by Andrea Breth, continues performances through October 28.

Cherubini and François-Benoît Hoffman’s 1797 opera is based on Euripides’ Medea and Pierre Corneille's Médée. In addition to Yoncheva in the title role, the cast includes Charles Castronovo as Jason, Iain Paterson as Créon, and Elsa Dreisig as Dircé. Daniel Barenboim conducts.
