News First Post-Broadway Production of Nick & Nora Surfaces in San Francisco Nick & Nora, the 1991 musical that managed a run of only nine performances despite a cast and creative team consisting of some of the top talents of its period on Broadway, will get what’s being billed as its first fully staged post-Broadway production now through April 19 in San Francisco.

The 42nd Street Moon company has tapped Greg MacKellan to direct the revival of the musical, which has music by Charles Strouse (Bye Bye Birdie, Annie), lyrics by Richard Maltby (Miss Saigon and Starting Here, Starting Now and a book by Arthur Laurents (Gyspy, West Side Story) based on Dashiell Hammett’s The Thin Man novel and films about Nick and Nora Charles, a pair of wisecracking married detectives. The original Broadway production starred Barry Bostwick, Joanna Gleason, Christine Baranski and Faith Prince.

The new production will feature Ryan Drummond (Nick Charles), Brittany Danielle (Nora Charles), Michael Austin (Lt. Wolfe), and Michael Cassidy (Edward J. Connors).

42nd Street Moon performs at the Eureka Theatre in San Francisco.
