Amos Kamil's The Flame Keeper, a new play expected Off-Broadway in June, will explore the question of what life was like for Jews when they returned to Germany after World War II.

For one Jewish doctor in the play, which begins previews at the 47th Street Theatre June 20, the day's routine includes a morning ritual of harassing a German storekeeper, or, as the production notes state: "Taking revenge on a single man for the sins of an entire nation."

Charles Goforth directs Lenny Mandel and Paul Whelihan.

The Wayne Howard Group is producing. The play was previously seen in a production in New Jersey.
