News Flea Extends Run of The Break-Up and The Happy Sad The limited engagement of the world premiere of The Break-Up and The Happy Sad, two one-act plays by Tommy Smith and Ken Urban, has been extended at The Flea Theatre.

The production that begin previews March 6 and opened March 22 at the downtown New York City venue has added 3 weeks of performances through April 22 "due to unprecedented popular demand," according to an announcement.

Tommy Smith and Ken Urban penned the double-bill "about nine New Yorkers looking for happiness," according to an announcement. In Smith's The Break Up, "a man falls in love with his drug dealer, with disastrous results." The Happy Sad is explained as "Stan loves Annie, but Annie doesn't love Stan. Marcus loves Aaron, but Marcus doesn't like monogamy."

Sherri Kronfeld directs a cast that features members of the resident acting ensemble, The Bats, including Felipe Bonilla, Havilah Brewster, Jane Elliot, Pete Forester, Tom Lipinski, Stephen O'Reilly, John Russo, Annie Scott and Ronald Washington.

The design team for The Break-Up and The Happy Sad includes John McDermott (set), Ben Kato (lights), Erin Murphy (costumes) and Brandon Wolcott (sound).
