Flin Flonning author and star Vladimir Jon Cubrt.

Aviva Armour-Ostroff directs a cast that includes Melissa Bourne, Vladimir Jon Cubrt, Jessica Embro, Jeff Kassel and Collette Micks. Performances play Diesel Playhouse — Cabaret, 56 Blue Jays Way in Toronto, Ontario.

According to the company, "Set in the city of Toronto, Flin Flonning is an hilarious dark comedy about a man at a crossroads, who doesn't know who he is — and never has; a good woman who will give up everything for the love of a man — any man; and the guy who's got it all — or, so it seems."

It promises to "earnestly and bravely confront questions about personal identity, professional success and speed-dating," all with a Torontonian sensibility.

Vladimir Jon Cubrt is the founder of Zocalo Toronto, both a production company and a new small theatre space.

This is Cubrt's first play, which he began writing five years ago. Since then he has written two other plays, one of which — Samkon and Francis Go Swimming — was workshopped in fall 2006.

As an actor, his recent film/television credits include "Hollywoodland," "Confessions of an American Bride," "Ham and Cheese," and a recurring role on "Odyssey 5." Recent theatre credits include Sara's Cave at the Brampton Heritage Theatre and Don't Dress For Dinner at the Limelight Dinner Theatre. The actor is reclaiming his heritage by crediting himself, for the very first time as an actor, by his given birth name, Vladimir.

Opening is May 31. Performances continue to June 17.
